Job Description

The Locust Valley Central School District is looking for a (2025 Summer) Credit Recovery Social Studies Teacher - HS to join our team in providing a safe, nurturing and challenging classroom environment devoted to helping all students reach their full potential. 

 

REQUIREMENTS:	NYS Certification Social Studies (7-12)
RESPONSIBILITIES:	Developing and implementing personalized learning plans for students based on their specific academic needs and the reasons they failed a course. Providing one-on-one or small-group instruction and remediation to help students understand challenging concepts. Tracking student progress regularly and maintaining accurate records of performance, attendance, and course completion. Providing timely feedback on assignments and assessments to help students improve. Working closely with school counselors, administrators, and other teachers to identify students in need of credit recovery and coordinate support services. Communicating regularly with students and their families about progress, challenges, and strategies for success. Developing supplementary materials and lesson plans to complement online credit recovery programs or to provide direct instruction. Creating a supportive, encouraging, and organized classroom environment conducive to learning. Implementing effective classroom management strategies to ensure student engagement and focus.
SCHEDULE:	July 8, 2025 – August 7, 2025; Monday – Thursday (8:00AM – 11:15AM)
SALARY:	$55.00 per hour
