Job Description

The Locust Valley Central School District is looking for a (2025-2026 School Year) Teaching Assistant (Elementary) to join our team in providing a safe, nurturing and challenging classroom environment devoted to helping all students reach their full potential. 

 

REQUIREMENTS:	Must be certified as a NYS Teaching Assistant
RESPONSIBILITIES:	Assist the teacher with routine classroom preparation duties and help develop instructional materials. Help with classroom setup by distributing/gathering materials and setting up equipment. Support and assist students with instructional resources and on instructional projects. Collect, maintain and provide data and information to the classroom teacher and other team members regarding student skills, progress, behaviors, and needs. Assist the teacher with classroom management (e.g., help maintain discipline and a positive learning environment) Supervise students during non-instructional times, such as lunch, recess or transition between activities. Establish good relationships with students, parents and other staff members.
SCHEDULE:	As needed throughout the academic school year.
SALARY:	Teaching Assistant hourly rate starting at $19.02 Possibility of incremental increase based on experience and educational assignments.

Job Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Strong classroom management skills. Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills. Adaptability and flexibility to work in various classrooms and grade levels. Proficiency in computer skills and school/classroom educational technology
