Job Description

The Locust Valley Central School District is looking for a (2025-2026 School Year) Teaching Assistants & Teacher Aides (Elementary) - Special Education (Part-Time) to join our team in providing a safe, nurturing and challenging classroom environment devoted to helping all students reach their full potential. 

 

REQUIREMENTS:	Teaching Assistant: Must be certified as a NYS Teaching Assistant Teacher Aide: High School diploma
RESPONSIBILITIES:	Instruct and monitor students individually or in small groups on daily life skills. Assist the classroom teacher in implementing activities (Instructional for Teaching Assistants; Non-Instructional for Teacher Aides). Collect, maintain and provide data and information to the classroom teacher and other team members regarding student skills, progress, behaviors, and needs. Assist the teacher with classroom management. Assisting teachers in non-teaching duties such as managing records, materials, and equipment. Supervise students during non-instructional times, such as lunch, recess or transition between activities. Help students with mobility within the school building as needed. Assisting students with any adaptive equipment and assistive devices or other equipment. Establish good relationships with students, parents and other staff members.
SCHEDULE:	M-F (School Hours)
SALARY:	Teaching Assistant hourly rate starting at $19.40 Teacher Aide hourly rate starting at $18.13 Possibility of incremental increase based on experience and educational assignments.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Strong classroom management skills. Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills. Adaptability and flexibility to work in various classrooms and grade levels. Proficiency in computer skills and school/classroom educational technology
