Job Description

The Locust Valley Central School District is looking for a (2025-2026 School Year) teacher to join our team in providing a safe, nurturing and challenging classroom.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • NYS Certification Business and Marketing (All Grades)
  • NYS Certification Coordinator of Work-Based Learning Programs (preferred)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The substitute teacher is responsible for the well-being and safety of the students, taking attendance, maintaining a functioning classroom, utilizing classroom management skills, leaving a clean classroom, and teaching the provided curriculum.
  • Develop lesson plans and assignments to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students.
  • Teach students business financial literacy topics which includes Financial & Business Management, Accounting, Business Law, Entrepreneurship, Marketing & International Business, and Career Development.
  • Stay up-to-date on current financial topics, on-going evolution of global financial markets and industry market trends.
  • Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Assess, evaluate and track student progress through in-class/at-home assignments, projects and exams.
  • Effective and ongoing communication with parents, colleagues and administration.
  • Attending meetings and maintaining professional development standards.
Job Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience teaching Business in secondary school preferred (with a valid Business and Marketing certification)
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or related field.
  • Proven leadership, organizational, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to engage, motivate and challenge students.
  • Understanding of modern teaching techniques and use of classroom technologies.
