Job Description

The Locust Valley Central School District is looking for a (2025-2026 School Year) Long Term Substitute Board Certified Behavior Analyst - BCBA (Elementary) to join our team in providing a safe, nurturing and challenging classroom environment devoted to helping all students reach their full potential. 

REQUIREMENTS:
? NYS Certification in Students with Disabilities 1-6
? BCBA Certification: Board Certified Behavior Analyst

RESPONSIBILITIES:
? Develop and design lesson plans and assignments consistent with the regular teacher's past lesson plans (in support of students IEPs). Modify the curriculum to meet the cognitive and sensory needs of each student.
? Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) to identify specific triggers and reinforcements for challenging behaviors as needed.
? Develop Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) as needed and consult with staff on their implementation.
? Utilize specific Applied behavior Analysis (ABA) teaching modalities to build academic and life skills.
? Consult with teachers and other staff on the use of appropriate teaching modalities to build academic and life skills.
? Continuously collect and graph data on student performance and make ongoing adjustments to teaching methods as needed.
? Build relationships with students and their families through regular communication on IEP progress and feedback.

START:  ~April 14, 2026 through June 30, 2026
SALARY:  $175 per day

Job Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Prior experience in elementary school preferred.   Proven leadership, organizational, written, and oral communication skills. Ability to engage, motivate and challenge students. Understanding of modern teaching techniques and use of classroom technologies. Strong problem-solving skills.
