Job Description

The Locust Valley Central School District is looking for a (2026-2027 School Year) teacher to join our team in providing a safe, nurturing and challenging classroom.

REQUIREMENTS:	NYS Certification in Early Childhood Education B-2 NYS Certification in Childhood Education 1-6
RESPONSIBILITIES:	The Substitute Teacher is responsible for the well-being and safety of the students, taking attendance, maintaining a functioning classroom, utilizing classroom management skills, and teaching the provided curriculum. Develop and design lesson plans and assignments consistent with the regular teacher's past lesson plans provided by the regular Teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students. Develop new ideas and concepts through a variety of strategies to help students uncover new ideas of their own. Build relationships with students and their families through regular communication and feedback. Working with students individually if they need extra help and support. Provide in-class and at-home assignments based on the available lesson plan.
START:	~September 1, 2026 through February 1, 2027
SALARY:	According to the LVSEA Teachers Contract

 

Job Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience teaching elementary school preferred  Proven leadership, organizational, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Ability to engage, motivate and challenge students. Understanding of modern teaching techniques and use of classroom technologies.
