The Locust Valley Central School District is looking for a Bus Driver - Hourly Position to join our team in providing a safe, nurturing and challenging classroom environment devoted to helping all students reach their full potential. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Transport children and other passengers to and from school.
  • Learn bus route.
  • Understand and obey all traffic laws.
  • Maintain a clean and mechanically sound bus at all times.
  • Ensure the safety of all students.
  • Discipline children as needed to maintain a safe environment.
  • Perform inspections of the bus before and after each route.
  • Attend safety meetings as required.

START:

~October 16, 2025

SALARY:

$25.23 - $28.43* Incremental increase depending on relevant driving experience

*pending contract negotiations

Attendance Incentive:  Drivers absent 3 times or less (personal or sick) in each 2 month period over the school year will receive an attendance bonus as follows:

Absent 0-1 days = $200

Absent 2-3 days = $150

CDL Differential:  Valid CDL B license holders who accept CDL Class B assignments are eligible for an end of year differential of $550 (pro-rated for drivers working less than the full school year and/or only working 1 shift).

BENEFITS:

Eligibility requirements:  Health insurance is available to eligible drivers who work 30 or more hours per work week, on as-needed basis.

Part-Time Bus Attendent - Hourly Position25-26 (PT Bus Attendant Hourly) (RePost 10/1)

The Locust Valley Central School District is looking for a Part-Time Bus Attendant - Hourly Position to join our team in providing a safe, nurturing and challenging classroom environment devoted to helping all students reach their full potential. 

Responsibilities:

  • Supervises children and maintains order on the school bus to ensure safety and discipline; performs related duties as required.
  • Supervise the loading and unloading of buses at various stopping points. 
  • Maintains order on the bus and makes certain that the children are seated while the bus is in motion.  
  • Assist the bus driver in communicating with parents and school staff/faculty.
  • Enforce safety rules and policies on the bus.
  • Helps children cross roads (as appropriate) safely.
  • Reporting any incidents and/or injuries that occur on the bus.  If any incidents occur, produce summary reports of the incident for the school. 
  • Maintain accurate student attendance and behavior on the bus.
  • Assist students with special needs/mobility issues (if appropriate).
  • May assist children in the lower grades with getting on the bus and assisting with seat-belts.

 

 

$18.00 per hour
