The Locust Valley Central School District is looking for a Part-Time School Monitor to join our team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervises students and maintains order in the lunchroom, hallways, or all-purpose room; performs related duties as required.

  • Helps students find classroom locations, or seating in large settings/common areas.

  • Oversees students in common areas, ensuring no accidents occur.

  • Supervise students in the all-purpose room, maintaining order and reporting cases of misbehavior to the appropriate school authority.  

  • May assist teachers in taking attendance.

Work Hours and Benefits:

The position is in the Middle/High School with an anticipated start date October 16, 2025.  There are no benefits.   

Training and Education:

  • Ability to speak and read English in order to understand and perform job assignments.

Salary:

  • Hourly rate: $17.77 (incremental increase depending on experience).

Permanent Substitute Teacher (Secondary Grades 6-12)25-26 (Perm Sub Secondary) Repost 9/8

The Locust Valley Central School District is looking for a (2025-2026 School Year) Permanent Substitute Secondary Teacher (Grades 6-12) to join our team in providing a safe, nurturing and challenging classroom environment devoted to helping all students reach their full potential. 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • NYS Certification (relevant certification for secondary school).  Certification must be from New York State.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The substitute teacher is responsible for the well-being and safety of the students, taking attendance, maintaining a functioning classroom, utilizing classroom management skills, leaving a clean classroom, and teaching the provided curriculum.
  • Facilitate, execute or carry out lesson plans and assignments consistent with the regular teacher's past lesson plans provided by the regular teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students.
  • Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Provide in-class and at-home assignments based on available lesson plan.
