REQUIREMENTS:

• NYS Certification in Speech and Language Disabilities (All Grades)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• The Teacher is responsible for the well-being and safety of the students, taking attendance, maintaining a functioning classroom, utilizing classroom management skills, leaving a clean classroom, and teaching the provided curriculum.
• Conduct speech/language evaluations and assess students’ communication skills.
• Working with students with a variety of learning, physical and auditory disabilities or disorders that adversely affect their educational performance.
• Identifying students who may be at risk for future communication challenges.
• Treating students with speech and language issues in the development or support of IEPs.
• Assess, evaluate and track student performance and ongoing progress.
• Build and manage trusting relationships with students, parents, and school staff.
• Keep parents informed of student progress. 
• Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment.
• Adapt teaching methods to fit the needs of each individual student.
• Provide in-class and at-home assignments.
• Collaborate with teachers on building, evolving lesson plans for a more consistent student learning experience.
