The successful candidate is an experienced administrator who will provide visionary and collaborative

leadership, meaningful professional development, and highly effective supervision. This candidate must

possess strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, and act as a collaborative leader

committed to creating a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

School Program Design, Curriculum, and Staff

  • Develop the overall vision/mission for the school and partner with central administration, directors, and coordinators to align district initiatives and instructional priorities.
  • Oversee school-level program planning, foster curriculum and staff development, and monitor ongoing progress in meeting programmatic goals.
  • Conduct staff supervision and appraisal in accordance with district policies, and identify staffing needs, hiring, orientation, and assignment of staff.
  • Develop and manage the teacher schedule to ensure alignment with curriculum requirements, staffing, and student needs.
  • Coordinate and review extra-curricular clubs and activities, and manage training, class coverage, and substitute assignments.
  • Use data to research and inform instruction, and utilize technology to advance teaching and learning so students and staff can participate in the global community.
  • Oversees building-level Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) meetings to evaluate student data and ensure the effective implementation of targeted academic and behavioral interventions. 
  • Attends and actively participates in building-level professional development to help support instructional goals.
  • Assist the administrative team in interpreting and presenting the educational program to students, staff, and the community.

 

Student Support & Culture

  • Provide visible, effective leadership for students, actively modeling the district’s character education framework and enthusiastically celebrating student achievements.
  • Help students resolve non-academic problems that may interfere with their educational opportunities, and conduct individual conferences with students, staff, and parents regarding academic, behavioral, and social issues.
  • Provide and implement student discipline principles, incorporating progressive discipline and addressing Code of Conduct guidelines, with specific attention to the attendance policy.
  • Lead and/or participate in student disciplinary meetings and hearings.
  • Coordinates home instruction to ensure continued educational support and compliance for eligible students.

Management Functions & Relationships

  • Organize NYS Examination administration, including developing proctor schedules and communicating testing approaches to students and staff.
  • Supervise staff, provide professional development, and collaborate with the Assistant Superintendent, Administrative Cabinet, other Principals, Department Leaders, and the Head Custodian.
  • Serve as a member of the Site-Based management team, participate in administrative cabinet meetings, and assist in coordinating safety and emergency drills.
  • Prepare district and SED reports as delegated, and drive initiatives for educational quality and school improvement.
  • Attends and participates in Coordinated Parent Council meetings, SEPTA (Special Education Parent Teacher Association) meetings, and other parent and community relations events to encourage cooperative involvement of families and the community.
  • Maintains regular, clear communication with families regarding school-wide events, updates, and instructional initiatives.
