The Locust Valley Central School District is looking for a (2025-2026 School Year) Teaching Assistants & Teacher Aides (Secondary) - Special Education (Part-Time) to join our team in providing a safe, nurturing and challenging classroom environment devoted to helping all students reach their full potential. 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Teaching Assistant: Must be certified as a NYS Teaching Assistant

Teacher Aide: High School diploma

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Instruct and monitor students individually or in small groups on daily life skills.
  • Assist the classroom teacher in implementing activities in support of student IEPs (Instructional for Teaching Assistants; Non-Instructional for Teacher Aides).
  • Collect, maintain and provide data and information to the classroom teacher and other team members regarding student skills, progress, behaviors, and needs.
  • Assist the teacher with classroom management.
  • Assisting teachers in non-teaching duties such as managing records, materials, and equipment.
  • Supervise students during non-instructional times, such as lunch, recess or transition between activities.
  • Help students with mobility within the school building as needed.
  • Assisting students with any adaptive equipment and assistive devices or other equipment.
  • Establish good relationships with students, parents and other staff members.

SCHEDULE:

As needed throughout the academic school year.

SALARY:

Teaching Assistant hourly rate starting at $19.02

Teacher Aide hourly rate starting at $17.77

Possibility of incremental increase based on experience and educational assignments.

Substitute School Nurse (District-Wide)25-26 (Per Diem Sub School Nurse)

The Locust Valley Central School District is looking for a (2025-2026 School Year) Substitute School Nurse (District-Wide) to join our team in providing a safe, nurturing and challenging classroom environment devoted to helping all students reach their full potential. 

REQUIREMENTS:

NYS Registered Nurse License. Must be registered in New York State.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform any medical screening, assessment, and diagnosis of students

Administer medications and treatment as prescribed by a licensed healthcare provider in compliance with district policies and procedures

Provide healthcare education to students, faculty, and staff

Collaborate with medical professionals and other healthcare providers

Facilitate referrals to appropriate medical and community-based resources

Maintain accurate records of medical care

Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and school policies

The Locust Valley Central School District is looking for a (2025-2026 School Year) Permanent Substitute Elementary Teacher (Grades K-5) to join our team in providing a safe, nurturing and challenging classroom environment devoted to helping all students reach their full potential. 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • NYS Certification (relevant certification for secondary school).  Certification must be from New York State.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The substitute teacher is responsible for the well-being and safety of the students, taking attendance, maintaining a functioning classroom, utilizing classroom management skills, leaving a clean classroom, and teaching the provided curriculum.
  • Facilitate, execute or carry out lesson plans and assignments consistent with the regular teacher's past lesson plans provided by the regular teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students.
  • Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Provide in-class and at-home assignments based on available lesson plan.
