REQUIREMENTS:

  • NYS Certification Childhood Education 1-6

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The teacher is responsible for the well-being and safety of the students, taking attendance, maintaining a functioning classroom, utilizing classroom management skills, leaving a clean classroom, and teaching the provided curriculum.
  • Plan, develop, and deliver engaging math lessons to small groups of students.   
  • Provide one-on-one tutoring to students who require more intensive intervention.
  • Adapt existing math curriculum and create new materials to address specific student deficits, focus on foundational skills such as basic operations and problem-solving strategies.
  • Regularly access student progress using various tools such as informal assessments, information observations and student work samples.   Adjust instruction and report student progress toward goals set in learning plans.
  • Create and maintain logs of daily student attendance, student progress, lesson plans and parent contact.
  • Communicate students’ progress and interventions with faculty, students and families.
  • Actively participate in grade-level meetings, collaborative planning, and professional development.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Instruct and monitor students individually or in small groups on daily life skills.
  • Assist the classroom teacher in implementing activities (Instructional for Teaching Assistants; Non-Instructional for Teacher Aides).
  • Collect, maintain and provide data and information to the classroom teacher and other team members regarding student skills, progress, behaviors, and needs.
  • Assist the teacher with classroom management.
  • Assisting teachers in non-teaching duties such as managing records, materials, and equipment.
  • Supervise students during non-instructional times, such as lunch, recess or transition between activities.
  • Help students with mobility within the school building as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervises students and maintains order in the lunchroom, hallways, or all-purpose room; performs related duties as required.

  • Helps students find classroom locations, or seating in large settings/common areas.

  • Oversees students in common areas, ensuring no accidents occur.

  • Supervise students in the all-purpose room, maintaining order and reporting cases of misbehavior to the appropriate school authority.
